The DC2EN Incubation Program is unlike any other Incubation project in the province. It is a unique pilot program designed specifically to benefit Alberta digital media producers by facilitating the development of a project with a focus on intellectual property creation from the earliest stages, allowing for unparalleled access to world-class digital media/creative industry mentors, in-person incubation sessions and the time to develop the project at your home base location. The DC2EN program is focused on growing the digital media industry across Alberta and provides constant support to qualifying companies throughout the full incubation process.
Description
The Digital Content Creation Entrepreneurs Network (DC2EN) is a pilot project incubation program focused on collaborative digital media development between entertainment, health, education and technology partners. DC2EN will identify and develop a network of Alberta-based digital media producers and provide opportunities for creative industry-focused entrepreneurial skills to take shape, industry-specific capacity building activities and build towards made in Alberta IP generating properties and a sustainable platform for international business and creative collaborations to grow.
The DC2EN is designed to support the development of convergent products from concept through to market. These programs bring together Alberta's creative and technology producers with respected mentors to explore new ways of approaching entertainment and storytelling for multiple platforms including web, wireless, and consoles.
Projects admitted into the DC2EN enter through the Incubator Program and must have the potential of creating a prototype business plan and the creation of a new IP. The Incubation program is designed to provide for concept development, business planning, and project experience.
Project teams will be paired with a Program Mentor, an expert in digital media, creative storytelling, and/or media production. Mentors will be available on a weekly basis either by phone or physical presence in addition to attending several in-person events.
Program Delivery
The DC2EN is delivered through The Banff New Media Institute Accelerator Program in partnership with Digital Alberta and will be used to build on the expertise and competitive advantages in the global digital media industry. The DC2EN is coordinated out of Banff, Alberta with a focus on the majority of incubation activity happening in selected incubation facilities from across the province wherever the selected companies originate from. Banff New Media Institute will support focused incubation residencies at The Banff Centre for intensive development periods of each team and provide administrative/coordination support during the times when companies are working out of their home bases.
